Jazz was the music of the 1920s it was fun music that people enjoyed if they could get into it. Jazz was hated older folks who wanted to keep more traditional values. Wherever the style of music spread it was followed by criticism. Older generations as tended to dislike the music more and say it was the devils music because of being slang and popular with African Americans.
